The AHA has worked with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other national and state hospital associations to help coordinate medical relief efforts for hospitals and patients affected by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. More than 800 hospitals volunteered teams and other resources via this Web site.  Individual health care professionals also volunteered their services.
